JOHOR BARU: Sedili incumbent assemblyman, Rasman Ithnain who was previously embroiled in a sexual harassment case would not be defending his seat in the upcoming state election.
His seat would instead be given to first-time candidate Mohd Hasnol Hadi Mohd, 35, who is also Kota Tinggi Armada chief.
Meanwhile, his son, Alias Rasman, 31, had been fielded to contest at the Johor Lama seat, replacing incumbent assemblyman Rosleli Jahari, who was also not contesting in the Johor polls.
Last month, a woman in her 20s filed a police report, claiming that she had been sexually harassed by Rasman on more than one occasion.
Rasman denied the allegations, claiming that it was a political conspiracy and attempt to tarnish his reputation.
In GE14, Rasman contested the Sedili seat as an Umno candidate and won with a 9,168 majority.
He later left Umno and joined Bersatu with Rosleli and Endau incumbent assemblyman Alwiyah Talib.
