KUALA LUMPUR: An Umno Youth delegate says he would not have been chosen as a candidate in the Melaka election if party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had a vindictive nature.
"One day, I made a Facebook post about 'dinosaurs' in politics. It had nothing to do with the president but I heard he was hurt by what I said," said Dr Muhammad Akmal Saleh, adding that Umno Youth was very vocal against Ahmad Zahid post-GE14.
"If he was vindictive, I believe I would not have been chosen as a candidate in the Melaka polls and Umno youth would not have gotten as many seats," he told delegates on the second day of the Umno general assembly on Saturday (March 19).
"I have since apologised to the president," he said.
In his presidential address on Friday, Ahmad Zahid said that he is not vindictive and stated that "revenge-based action" would not be taken against anyone if Barisan Nasional wins GE15.
