Lake County authorities have identified a Schaumburg man who drowned this weekend in Lake Michigan at the Fort Sheridan beach.
The coroner’s office identified the man as Jianyun Shen, 35. An autopsy conducted Monday by the Lake County coroner’s office showed preliminary results that were consistent with death from drowning, Coroner Jennifer Banek said.
Authorities said they responded to the Fort Sheridan Beach around 3:30 p.m. Sunday after receiving reports of a man in distress in the water. After authorities removed Shen from the water, he was taken to Highland Park Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
An investigation into the death is being conducted by the Lake County coroner’s office and Lake County Forest Preserve Police.
