Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky raged at the idea of Ukraine not being involved in the peace talks, days after Donald Trump announced he and Vladimir Putin had agreed to start peace negotiations immediately.
Speaking on Tuesday, he made clear he wants the current set of talks, involving only Russia and the US, to come to an end. Speaking from Turkey, where he met Recep Tayyip Erdogan, he said negotiations "should not take place behind our backs" after US and Russian officials met in Saudi Arabia.
He also stressed Europe should be involved in the discussion about ending the illegal war launched by Russia in Ukraine nearly three years ago.
While the Trump team suggested Ukraine should abandon its NATO aspirations and fight to recover the territory illegally annexed by Russia, Mr Erdogan reiterated Turkey's "full support for Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty".
