REMBAU: Two men were killed after being hit by a trailer while reportedly trying to refuel a lorry on the emergency lane at the 241.6km of the North-South Expressway (northbound) here.
Rembau police chief Deputy Supt Hazri Mohamad said the incident, which occurred at about 12.30am yesterday, involved a lorry, a motorcycle and a trailer.
He said the driver of the lorry, Saifuddin Abdullah, 50, and the motorcyclist, R. Morgana Krishnan, 49, both died at the scene.
“A preliminary investigation found that the lorry driver had stopped on the emergency lane because he ran out of fuel and was assisted by a motorcyclist who came with a bottle of fuel.
“A trailer from Ayer Keroh heading towards Senawang then crashed into the two victims, who were standing on the right side of the lorry,” he said.
Supt Hazri added that the two bodies were later taken to Rembau Hospital for an autopsy, reported Bernama.
The driver of the trailer fled the scene after the accident.
Efforts were underway to track down the individual, Supt Hazri added.
