A BOOZY beautician has been slapped with a strict 7pm curfew and a driving ban after being caught three times over the limit.

Nail technician Olivia Stokes - who calls herself "Queenie" - got behind the wheel following an alcohol-fuelled 2am pub lock-in with pals.

The 23-year-old said she found herself stranded eight miles away with nowhere to stay after her mobile phone battery "died".

She had been in Knutsford to visit a client before ending up on a drunken night out with friends on January 7, arranging to stay at a pal's home nearby.

After remembering her work kit in her Vauxhall Corsa and deciding to grab it, Stokes' phone allegedly died, "causing her to panic".

The nail tech, from Northwich, Cheshire, claimed she was then unable to contact her friend or remember where they lived.

She then made the "foolish decision to drive" after claiming to have returned to the bar she had been knocking back drinks in to find it had closed.

Stokes hopped in her car and had barely travelled over one mile when patrol cops pulled her over due to her erratic driving.

Tests showed that the 23-year-old had 99 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 milliliters of breath. The legal limit is 35mg.

Officers also found two bottles of wine stashed on the passenger seat of Stokes' vehicle.

The beautician admitted driving with excess alcohol and was disqualified from driving for 26 months at Stockport Magistrates Court.

She was also handed a 7pm-to-7am curfew.

Prosecutor Mr Robin Lynch told the hearing: "The vehicle accelerated very quickly, so officers stopped the vehicle to speak to the driver.

"Officers could smell intoxicant on her breath."

In mitigation, defence lawyer Victoria Thompson suggested Stokes was going through a "very difficult time" and foolishly got drunk as she hadn't seen her friends in a long time due to Covid.

Ms Thompson continued: "She was in a very difficult time in her life with her lack of work.

       'A CLEAN BREAK'

"She was struggling and was taking fluoxetine for depression and anxiety. This is a lady of previous good character.

"It was a blessing that she was stopped, because if she had continued to drive, who knows what might have happened. She is horrified and deeply ashamed."

Stokes is now desperate for a "fresh start" and is set to start new employment at a new company in Jersey from March 1.

Ms Thompson explained: "She has family and friends in Jersey, and it is an opportunity for a clean break.

"This incident will not prevent her from moving to Jersey although her employment may be impacted depending on what the sentence is.

"There are no ongoing issues with alcohol and has support from her family."

Her father is now going to take over the finance of the Vauxhall Corsa after Stokes was banned for over two years.

She who was also ordered to pay £180 in surcharges and was offered a place on a drink driver's rehabilitation course.
