KUALA LUMPUR: Grateful for the support received by Barisan Nasional's Yong Peng candidate, Ling Tian Soon, who won the seat over the weekend, MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong was all praises for the team that supported his journey.
"I would like to thank all the voters in Yong Peng who have given the mandate to Ling, better known to locals as Ah Soon, who is now an assemblyman.
"Without the support of those who reside in Yong Peng, Barisan would not have won during this Johor elections," he said in a statement on social media.
Wee, who was also the Ayer Hitam MP, expressed his appreciation for the support of the Umno machinery from Ayer Hitam, as well as their Youth, Women and Puteri wings who tirelessly campaigned for Ah Soon.
"I would like to express my gratitude to Tampin's Umno division, led by Gemenchen assemblyman Datuk Mohd Isam Mohd Isa, who helped with the Umno machinery regardless of day or night.
"Apart from that, I express my gratitude to the Ayer Hitam MIC division machinery who have been committed to helping Ah Soon during this election process.
"The Malaysian Indian Muslim Congress (Kimma) has helped the Barisan machinery gain the support of voters as well," he said.
Wee said it was special that Barisan's original friends, including leaders from Gerakan and the People's Progressive Party in Ayer Hitam who remained with them to help Barisan and support their candidates in Yong Peng and Semarang.
