SERDANG: Studies will be conducted to determine if the landslides at Jalan LP1A in Lestari Perdana, Seri Kembangan will affect the surrounding area.

Serdang OCPD Asst Comm AA Anbalagan said shops near the landslide have been ordered to close for the time being.

“The area here involved at least 17 premises, and this is for their safety. We have informed the owners that their businesses need to be halted, and we appeal for their cooperation.

“A temporary retaining wall is being constructed with sheet piles, and a long-term solution is being looked at. The sheet pile installment, measuring around 150m, is expected to take at least a week,” he said, adding that work started at 2am Wednesday (Jan 26).

He said that other nearby areas are being looked at to identify if any other maintenance work is needed.

“Depending on studies by the contractors, there might be a need to extend the sheet pile installment,” he said at a press conference at the scene here.

A previous landslide had also occurred in the area in 2017, but was at a smaller scale.

On Tuesday (Jan 25), five vehicles parked on Jalan LP1A/2 Lestari Perdana, Serdang, Selangor were damaged after a landslide that slid into a large drain along the road on Tuesday (Jan 25) evening.

Following this, workers at 17 commercial premises were evacuated after a Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) assessment of the area.

No casualties were reported in the incident.
