JOHOR BARU: The Johor government has allocated RM3mil to help about 1,000 children who have lost their parents due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Mentri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad said each child would receive a one-off payment of between RM2,500 and RM5,000 which would be deposited into their National Education Savings Scheme.
He added in his speech during the unveiling of the state Budget 2022 on Thursday (Nov 18) that primary and secondary school students would also receive vouchers to purchase their school supplies.
"We hope this will help all these children as we are concerned about their welfare," he said.
Hasni said this initiative is known as Anak Angkat Makmur and it would be handled by Yayasan Pembangunan Keluarga Darul Ta'zim.
