Prince George, seven, surprised royal fans last week by going to watch England take on Germany at Wembley stadium with parents Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince William. The youngster stayed for the entirety of the game, and wore a very smart navy suit and tie. But the choice of outfit was criticised by royal fans, with many saying it was unfair for a child to wear such a formal outfit.

       However, royal expert Duncan Larcombe has claimed young George was responsible for the outfit choice and was so excited to go and watch the match with his father.

       The expert told OK!: "Prince William is George's absolute hero.

       "“He thinks his dad’s the most perfect person on the planet.

       "George idolises his dad.

       "That’s why we saw him looking so smart in his suit - he really wanted to dress like William."

       Mr Larcombe, author of Prince Harry: The Inside Story, also revealed George had begged his father to let him attend the football game, which had an earlier 5pm kickoff.

       The young royal is said to be following in his father’s footsteps, as William is an avid football fan.

       The expert added: "William would never have normally taken him to the football because it was an official outing in his role as president of the FA, but George absolutely begged to be allowed to come along."

       Mr Larcombe claimed the seven-year-old had "twisted his parent's arms" and said Kate came along to ensure that George would be with someone when William had to meet officials.

       Kate and William have confirmed they will be attending the Euro 2020 final between England and Italy on Sunday night, which is being played at Wembley.

       It is not yet known if George will join them, as the match has a later kickoff of 8pm and will be likely to go on way past the youngster's bedtime.

       But Mr Larcombe said George has a way of winning his parents over, so if the young heir to the throne wants to attend, the Cambridges may well let him.

       The royal expert said: "He’s becoming a pretty big character and has both of his parents eating out of the palm of his hand."

       Royal fans are also hoping the young Prince will attend the final on Sunday.

       Dozens commented on William's Twitter post congratulating the Three Lions on their historic win against Denmark on Wednesday night.

       One person said: "Please can we have this young man at the final Dad?"

       To which one replied: "Definitely. It would be lovely to see them there.

       "What a memory to have, especially if they win."

       Another said: "That would be wonderful. Prince George would love it as would Prince William, I think."
