Massive and deadly wildfires are currently blighting Europe as a result of raging 40C temperatures and tinder dry conditions resulting from the ongoing extreme heatwave dubbed Cerberus.

Greece, Spain, and Italy are among the countries in southern Europe which have been impacted particularly severely and have experienced out-of-control blazes.

The weather forecast for Greece shows temperatures will continue to soar this week, peaking at 43C on Saturday in Athens.

Due to a mountain wildfire, authorities have issued evacuation orders for a number of coastal communities south of the city.

About 25 miles southeast of Athens, water-dropping aircraft have been sent to the area to put out the fire.

A second vast blaze in woodland near to the resort town of Loutraki has been reported by the fire department.

The excessive heat is not anticipated to shift until Wednesday, when temperatures are likely to hit 39C (102F) in the east and 41C (106F) in the west, according to the Hellenic National Meteorological Service.

Greece's ancient Acropolis has been forced to as extreme temperatures cause authorities in Athens to text steps to minimise risks to tourists.

       Spain

Spain is currently preparing for an intensification of heatwaves, with forecasts calling for highs of 44C in the Guadalquivir Valley near Seville.

The continuing wildfires that are raging wildly on La Palma, a Spanish Canary Island, correspond with this surge in temperatures.

More than 4,000 residents were forced to leave their houses on Saturday due to the fire. In the northern part of the island, the fire has destroyed more than 4,600 hectares (11,300 acres) of forest.

Authorities have sent out a sizable firefighting force to battle the wildfire, including more than 300 firemen, nine water-carrying helicopters, and two planes. They are all actively battling the blaze.

The heatwave this week will have a considerable impact on many nations surrounding the Mediterranean, according to a warning from Spain's Aemet weather service. But by Wednesday, the bureau predicts a dip in temperatures.

       Italy

Hot weather warnings have been issued for at least 16 towns in Italy, indicating that the country is bracing for a historic heatwave.

The country is bracing for record-breaking temperatures, with highs anticipated to hit 45C (113F). Among the towns on notice are well-known tourist sites including Rome, Florence, Bologna, Palermo in Sicily, and Bari in the country's southeast.

In light of these dire conditions, Italy's health minister, Orazio Schillaci, has recommended tourists to exercise caution when visiting tourist attractions such as Rome's famed ruins.

A 40-year-old man in northern Italy was the first recorded death linked to the extreme heat so far.

Meanwhile, a number of heatstroke cases have been reported in Italy including a British tourist who collapsed outside the Colosseum in Rome.

       Turkey

Turkish Agriculture and Forestry Minister Brahim Yumakl stated that, as of July 16, Turkey's southeastern Hatay and Mersin provinces, as well as ?anakkale province in the northwest, had been hit by a total of 19 wildfires.

The firefighting teams' efforts have been hampered by difficult weather, which prevented them from totally controlling two of the fires after a day of warfare.

The Hatay fire started when two people started a fire to remove reed beds in their farm, which quickly spread to the nearby forest.

The flames have already harmed around 230 hectares of land, according to Minister Yumakl.

As a result, the fire spread to residential neighbourhoods, destroying countless homes and automobiles.

It is worth noting that Hatay was one of the provinces hardest hit by the February 6 earthquakes. The fire had not been totally extinguished as of July 17, 6 PM local time.
