ISKANDAR PUTERI: It is hoped that owners of premises in Iskandar Puteri not operating during Phase 1 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) will fly the Jalur Gemilang at their respective shops.

       Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP) Iskandar Zone member Pandak Ahmad said this was because MBIP had directed all the premises to do so to enliven the national month celebration.

       “Although we are in Phase 1, we have no excuse not to fly the Jalur Gemilang.

       “It our responsibility as Malaysians, so do not use the NRP as an excuse not to fly the Jalur Gemilang at your premises and even homes,” he said after the flagging-off of the Kembara Merdeka Convoy and Fly the Jalur Gemilang Programme for the Iskandar Zone at Kampung Sungai Melayu here yesterday.

       Meanwhile, Johor state Information Department director Naim Fahmi Ahmad Tajuddin said it was organising virtual programmes in conjunction with the Merdeka month celebration.

       He said the public could visit www.360merdeka.my if they were keen to participate in the activities such as Sayembara Merdeka and drawing and colouring competitions. — Bernama
