A man was fatally shot early Sunday in Prince William County, police said.

       Michael Arthur, 18, of Dumfries, Va., was shot about 1 a.m. in the 14000 block of Deming Drive in the Gainesville area, police said.

       He was shot at least twice after a reported altercation in the parking lot of an apartment complex, according to police. Two unoccupied parked cars were also struck.

       The victim was taken to a hospital by an acquaintance but died shortly afterward, police said.

       They said the shooting did not appear to be random.
