PETALING JAYA: Recoveries continue to outnumber new Covid-19 cases on Sunday (Dec 19).
A total of 3,701 recoveries were reported compared with 3,108 new Covid-19 cases.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that this brought the cumulative recoveries in the country to 2,634,381.
He added that the cumulative infections were now 2,718,955.
"A total of 390 cases were treated in intensive care units and 211 cases needed ventilator support.
"Two new clusters were also reported on Sunday, bringing the number of active clusters to 252," he said.
He added that of the 3,108 new cases reported, 57 cases were categories three, four and five while the remaining cases were categories one and two.
He said the national infectivity rate (R-nought) value is currently at 0.91.
"Penang and Pahang recorded a value of 1.0, the highest in the country.
"All other states recorded values of 1.0 or below, with Sarawak recording the lowest at 0.72," he said.
