Police said officers then learned a second man had been shot in the same incident and had been taken by private vehicle to a hospital. Police said that person later died. Police identified him as Melvin Kenneth Dock, 23, with no fixed address.
According to a police report, one of the victims told detectives that the shooting occurred during an attempted carjacking of a white Infiniti sedan. A D.C. police spokesman said investigators are exploring other possible motives.
