SEREMBAN: Police have obtained an order from the Magistrate's court here to remand a 40-year-old foreigner for seven days to assist in investigations of the murder of a 19-year-old Rohingya man.
The suspect, who was also a Rohingya, would be in police custody from Thursday (April 7) until April 13.
Seremban district police chief Asst Comm Nanda Maarof said the order was signed by magistrate Intan Syafinaz Roslin.
The suspect was arrested in a textile shop in Penang around 1.30pm on Wednesday (April 6) just over three hours after the victim was found stabbed to death in a house in Bukit Tembok here.
Police found the victim's remains in the house around 10am on Wednesday after being alerted by a member of the public.
The victim, who was stabbed in the stomach, was believed to have died five hours before his remains were found.
He said preliminary investigations revealed that the victim had been staying at the house for the past week.
ACP Nanda had said that police believed both the victim and the suspect got into an argument which eventually led to the victim being stabbed.
Neighbours reported that they heard the two quarrelling on Tuesday (April 5) night.
The case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
