NEW YORK, April 20 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Wednesday as a rally in bond yields paused.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, fell 0.57 percent at 100.3890.

In late New York trading, the euro rose to 1.0845 dollars from 1.0796 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound rose to 1.3056 dollars from 1.2997 U.S. dollars in the previous session. The Australian dollar rose to 0.7441 U.S. dollar from 0.7374 dollar.

The U.S. dollar bought 127.80 Japanese yen, lower than 128.75 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar decreased to 0.9488 Swiss franc from 0.9513 Swiss franc, and it was down to 1.2504 Canadian dollars from 1.2624 Canadian dollars.

The above moves came as U.S. Treasury yields slipped. The yield on the benchmark U.S. 10-year Treasury fell to around 2.84 percent on Wednesday afternoon, after reaching the highest level since late 2018 in the prior session. The 30-year Treasury yield also decreased. A rising yield is dollar bullish, while a falling yield is dollar bearish.
