ALOR SETAR (Bernama): The number of flood victims in Kedah has dropped to 287 people from 79 families as of 8am on Thursday (Nov 11), as compared to 290 people from 80 families the night before.

       Kedah Civil Defence Force Disaster Management Committee Secretariat chief Major (PA) Mohd Muaz Mohd Yusof said all evacuees are still seeking shelter at three relief centres in Pendang and Kubang Pasu districts as of Thursday morning.

       "In Pendang, 147 victims from 36 families are at Dewan Rakan Sukan, Tanah Merah, while another 55 from 19 families are at Dewan Cenderawasih," he said in a statement on Thursday.

       Mohd Muaz said in Kubang Pasu, 85 evacuees from 24 families are still at the Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kampung Tradisi Lembah Keriang relief centre.

       He said in preparation for further floods, another relief centre in the district, SK Malau is still operating even though all victims had returned home.- Bernama
