KOTA BARU: Pengurusan Aset Air Bhd (PAAB) has allocated about RM471mil to construct 10 water treatment plants (LRA) in Kelantan.
Its chairman Datuk Dr Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali said it include the Semerak LRA which is due for completion in 2026 and to benefit 300,000 residents in the Bachok and Pasir Puteh districts.
The others are in Chicha, Tanjung Mas, Bukit Chupak and five mini LRAs for Pengkalan Chepa, Bechah Mulong, Kampung Pengkalan Kubor, Kampung Laut and Kampung Paloh, he added.
According to Bernama, the allocation will be used to upgrade the LRA at Merbau Chondong and replace old pipes in all districts too.
“Construction work on all the projects will begin in the second half of this year and is expected to be completed in stages between 2024 and 2026,” he said.
He said PAAB had carried out several projects in Kelantan, including five tube wells at the Chicha and Kampung Puteh LRA in Kota Baru completed in 2019, and the installation of pipes completed in 2021.
“There are also two projects at the construction stage, namely the construction of tube wells at the Tanjung Mas LRA and the installation of water pipes from Medan Telaga, Kg Tok Jaafar to the Pintu Geng LRA,” he added.
