The heartbroken family of a British dad who died within 24 hours of arriving in Benidorm are travelling to Spain to speak with police as they desperately search for answers about what happened.

The body of 30-year-old Nathan Osman, a father-of-four, was discovered at the base of a remote cliff on the outskirts of the town in September. The discovery was made just hours after Mr Osman, from Pontypridd, Rhondda Cynon Taf, arrived in Benidorm on the 27th for a holiday with friends.

Mr Osman's family claim attempts were made to use his bank cards the day after his death but that it wasn't followed up by authorities.

They worry that foul play may have been involved in the tragedy.

BBC News reports that Spanish authorities have agreed to meet with the family, who have been critical of the investigation.

Mr Osman's brother Lee Evans and his sister Alannah are flying to Benidorm on Sunday. Speaking to the BBC, Mr Evans claimed the family have been "totally abandoned," adding: "There's been zero investigation and we are fighting for answers."

The outlet reports that Police in Benidorm were yet to respond to a request for comment when their reporting was published.

Mr Osman, 30, had decided to join the trip to Benidorm at the last minute, according to reports.

Following his arrival on the 27th, Nathan reportedly spent time with friends before saying he was going to walk back to his hotel alone to get some rest.

However, the next day it was discovered that his bed hadn't been slept in, and an urgent search was launched.

Tragically, Mr Osman's body was found later that day at the foot of a cliff, a location Mr Evans says was in the opposite direction to his hotel, by an off-duty police officer on a waterbike.

At an inquest opening into his death at Pontypridd Coroners’ Court in October, senior coroner Graeme Hughes heard Mr Osman suffered traumatic injuries to his brain in the fall, Wales Online reported at the time.

The hearing was adjourned so that further investigations could take place, MailOnline reports.

Mr Evans said he doesn't believe his brother would have travelled there on his own, and that it would have taken an hour on foot, adding that the Briton had "no reason to be up there".

He said: "We strongly believe he was taken up there, whether it was by taxi or against his own will. And something has happened for him to be found where he was found."

Mr Evans and Alannah have been trying to piece together Mr Osman's known movements ahead of his death, and said he had been on a video call with one of his friends until his phone ran out of battery.

The family managed to find CCTV footage of Mr Osman on the promenade, and said he didn't appear to significantly intoxicated.

They also attempted to get footage from other premises with CCTV, but said the owners weren't prepared to hand it over without a request from the Spanish authorities.

The family claim they have made repeated attempts to find out how the probe into Mr Osman's death was coming along, only to be met with silence.

Alannah claims they recently received a police file which was "empty", with the case described by authorities as closed.

Mr Osman's mum Elizabeth claimed "no empathy" had been shown by Spanish police immediately after his death and alleged that they were "treated like dogs".

Elizabeth said: "Our boy deserves answers and we as a family deserve answers. Nathan wasn't a drunkard who'd go out and forget about everything. Nathan was really with it.

"Not knowing about that last hour or two before his death, it's eating us away, day in day out, from the time we get up to the time we go to bed. We live this nightmare," she added.

Jonathan claimed authorities had "done nothing, nothing at all". "It's just a total disregard for his life in every kind of way," he said.

Mr Evans said: "We'll keep going and going until we find out why - and how he got up there."

Spanish authorities have agreed to meet with them to address their concerns, with the family saying it will hand the information they have collected over.

A spokesperson for the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) said: "We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Spain and are in contact with the local authorities."
