Montgomery County detectives arrested a 26-year-old woman who called 911 to report that she killed her 92-yer-old roommate in their Kensington home Wednesday morning, officials said.
Authorities began a death investigation after being called to Spruell Drive about 8:20 a.m. when Julia Birch told officers she killed her roommate, county police said in a statement. Officers found Nancy Ann Frankel dead inside the home, police said.

In a later interview with investigators, police said Birch admitted to the killing, the statement said.
Authorities charged her with first-degree murder and she was held without bond, police said.
Police are awaiting the results of an autopsy, scheduled for Thursday, to determine the cause and manner of death, the statement said.
