PETALING JAYA: The final official results of the Johor state election have been announced by the Election Commission (EC) with Barisan Nasional taking the largest chunk of seats at 40.
The final tally was announced slightly after midnight on Sunday (March 13).
The EC declared Barisan having won in Yong Peng, Johor Lama, Kukup, Benut, Bukit Naning, Gambir, Tenang, Kahang, Sri Medan, Bukit Permai, Bekok and Paloh.
The coalition also took the seats of Bukit Pasir, Rengit, Pulai Sebatang, Pasir Raja, Layang-Layang, Sedili, Serom, Penawar, Pemanis, Sungai Balang, Pekan Nanas, Tenggaroh, Larkin, Serom, Parit Yaani, Tanjung Surat, Panti, Machap, Kemelah and Semerah, Semarang, Senggarang, Permas, Buloh Kasap, Kempas and Tiram.
Kota Iskandar and Mahkota were the last two seats won by Barisan to be officially announced even though Barisan had earlier declared the seats as theirs.
In its first election outing, the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) won one seat - Puteri Wangsa.
Pakatan Harapan, meanwhile, picked up 12 seats - Bentayan, Bukit Batu, Skudai, Perling, Jementah, Senai, Tangkak, Mengkibol, Penggaram, Simpang Jeram, Stulang and Johor Jaya.
Perikatan Nasional, which contested in all of the 56 seats, won only three - Endau, Maharani and Bukit Kepong.
