KIGALI, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Kenyan athletes on Sunday dominated the Kigali International Peace Marathon held in the Rwandan capital city of Kigali.
Wilfred Kigen led a Kenyan podium sweep in the men's race, finishing in two hours 16 minutes and 36 seconds, ahead of Johnstone Kibet Maiyo and George Nyamori Onyancha.
It was also an all-Kenyan affair in the women's race as Margaret Agai claimed the first top position in 2:35:23, followed by Rebecca Korir and Bornes Chepkirui.
The Kigali International Peace Marathon attracted more than 3,000 participants, including professionals and amateurs from across Africa and beyond.
Launched in 2004, the event has become one of the most respected annual athletics events in the region, and it is one of Rwanda's most popular sporting events held every year along with the famous Tour du Rwanda.
