KUWAIT CITY, April 12: Foreign Affairs Minister Sheikh Dr Ahmad Al- Nasser has confirmed that his ministry hired only one Kuwaiti advisor and no expatriate occupies such a position, reports Al-Rai daily. In response to the question of MP Hamdan Al-Azmi, the minister disclosed that there is coordination with the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to fully implement the Kuwaitization policy; including the need to determine the required ratio between Kuwaiti and non-Kuwaiti employees in each fiscal year. He said the number of non-Kuwaiti employees in the ministry reached 119 – 115 of whom occupy service jobs and four are under sub-contracts.

He added two of those under sub-contracts have been terminated and procedures for terminating the other two employees have started. With regard to entities affiliated with the ministry, Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) confirmed there are seven non-Kuwaiti technical consultants in the Operations Department. It added these consultants constitute about 20 percent of the 35 consultants and specialists. The fund revealed it has been implementing the Kuwaitization policy for years, in addition to approving the request of Kuwaiti employees who wish to obtain postgraduate certificates in preparation for replacement of expatriate workers with nationals.
