JERUSALEM, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- Atto 3, an electric subcompact crossover model manufactured by China's BYD Auto, was the best-selling electric car in Israel in 2023, according to the Israel Vehicle Importers Association on Tuesday.

       The crossover model, which entered the Israeli market in late 2022, sold 14,244 units in 2023, the association said.

       The Geometry C compact crossover, another Chinese electric car model made by the Geely Auto Group, ranked second in Israel's electric car sales last year by selling 7,129 units.

       The third most popular model was Tesla Model Y, followed by Tesla Model 3.

       The data also showed that Chinese brands accounted for 60.98 percent of Israel's electric car sales in 2023, with 29,402 units sold, more than double the number of 13,294 in 2022.

       In the category of gasoline-powered vehicles, Chery Automobile, a Chinese automaker that entered the Israeli market in late 2022, clinched the sixth spot with 11,162 cars sold in 2023.
