TBILISI, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Georgia on Friday reported 148 new COVID-19 cases, taking its total to 1,654,945, according to the country's National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC).
Data from the NCDC showed that two people died of the disease in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll to 16,807.
As of Friday, the country had administered a total of 2,880,821 doses of COVID-19 vaccines, according to the NCDC.
Earlier this week, Amiran Gamkrelidze, chief of the NCDC, said that the pandemic is far from ending in the country though it has seen a notable decline in daily cases and death rate.
He urged more citizens to get fully vaccinated in preparation for the potential risks of infection.
