IF his life before the pandemic revolved around training on the race track, now Muhammad Syazrul Adli Saiful Adli sells used clothing online while pursuing his tertiary education.
The turning point came when sports activities were curbed under Covid-19 standard operating procedures.
However, the 20-year-old, who won a bronze in the 100m sprint at the Malaysian Games in Perak in 2018, said the online business was done just for him to earn a side income, Harian Metro reported.
He started by promoting pre-loved items on his Instagram account before venturing into the short-video platform TikTok.
“I have always been interested in business. I even sold my own clothes part-time in my pre-university days at the Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sports School (in Johor).
“It was the free time during the first movement control order last year that gave me the push to be more active in business to earn pocket money.
“There seems to be a demand for used sweatshirts and hoodies,” he said.
Muhammad Syazrul said the first six months of business was tough but he managed to overcome that with regular customers and increased followers.
“I used the profits to buy attire of a better grade, quality and even branded stuff for the business,” said Muhammad Syazrul, who is currently pursuing sports science at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in Johor.
> Rozita Che Wan said that one of the reasons she accepted the offer to star in the drama Tahyul produced by Zeel Production was because Fauziah Latiff was cast in the show, Utusan Malaysia reported.
Rozita, 50, popularly known as Che Ta, said she was a huge fan of the singer.
“I admire Fauziah as much as I adore the talented Ziana Zain.
“I am looking forward to working with Fauziah,” said Rozita.
She recalled that she used to be touched by Fauziah’s songs and bought her albums, which were in cassette form back then.
“I even queued up to take pictures with her at a performance in Alor Setar,” she said.
The drama also stars Aniq Suhair, Cik B, Wani Kayrie, Ahmad Adly Sofwan, Shah Khan, Tania Hudson and Aidit Noh.
