IPOH: A total of 875 compound notices have been issued to people for disobeying the Covid-19 standard operating procedure since the interstate travel ban was lifted.
Perak police chief Comm Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the compound notices were issued for various reasons, including travelling to other states and districts without being fully vaccinated.
“As of Nov 4, we have issued 478 compound notices for customers who failed to check-in using their MySejahtera app or manually before entering premises.
"Other offences included those who failed to wear face masks, maintain physical distance, dining in premises without completing their vaccinations and shop owners who failed to provide QR codes and thermometer,” he told reporters after witnessing the duty handover ceremony between retiring state deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mazlan Santarai and Deputy Comm Datuk Azizi Mat Aris at the police officers’ mess hall here on Monday (Nov 8).
Interstate travel has been allowed since Oct 11.
Perak, along with Kedah, Penang and Sabah, will transition from Phase Three to Phase Four of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) starting on Monday.
Separately, Comm Mior Faridalathrash said from July 3 to Nov 3, the state police had conducted checks at 3,924 factories under Ops Patuh.
“We have issued a total of 65 compound notices for failing to adhere to the SOPs.
"Ipoh has the highest number of compound notices with 23, followed by Taiping at 13 and Manjung with eight," he said.
“With Perak now placed under Phase Four of the NRP, we hope the public will continue to follow the SOP and not take the virus lightly.
“We will continue to monitor the public areas to ensure that SOP will be followed and not hesitate to issue compound notices to those who fail to comply,” he added.
On DCP Mazlan's retirement, Comm Mior Faridalathrash said Monday would be his last day with the force.
“He will be replaced by DCP Azizi who was previously the Bukit Aman police management department deputy director,” he said.
