KUALA LUMPUR: Majuperak Holdings Bhd (MHB) is spearheading SilverVax, its vaccination programme, to expand the availability of the Covid-19 vaccine for those in Perak to achieve herd immunity.
Appointed by the Perak Government, Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Perak (PKNPk) through MHB in partnership with Hospital Ar-Ridzuan, will help distribute vaccines to targeted groups in the State.
MHB started its SilverVax scheme on Aug 2 and it has received positive response.
About 300 private companies across the state have registered to procure and provide vaccines for their workforce and family members since applications were opened on July 23.
The first official walkabout for the SilverVax programme was held at Hospital Ar-Ridzuan in Ipoh recently with Menteri Besar Datuk Saarani Mohamad.
Among those present were president of Perak Islamic Religious Council & Malay Customs (MAIPk) Datuk Seri Mohd Annuar Zaini; deputy chief executive (corporate affairs) of the Perak State Development Corporation (PKNPk) Syed Agil Syed Hashim and the Mayor of Ipoh, Datuk Rumaizi Baharin.
MHB group CEO Nizran Noordin said through the SilverVax Programme, the objective is to fully vaccinate 100,000 Perakians by end of this year with two doses each, depending on the demand by clients that are willing to pay their staff.
A total of 200,000 doses are expected to be made available to targeted groups namely private sector and State GLCs.
MHB was recently appointed by Pharmaniaga Bhd for the supply of the Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine in Perak. The vaccinations are now being administered at Hospital Ar-Ridzuan in Ipoh and will be made available at other vaccination centres soon at RM388 per person for two doses.
MHB is also negotiating with Duopharma Biotech Bhd for the distribution of Sinopharm vaccines together with its healthcare organiser, EB Holdings Sdn Bhd.
