JOHOR BARU: A police report has been filed against the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) for allegedly trespassing into property owned by a Johor government-linked company.
In a statement, PIJ Holdings Sdn Bhd said that the report was filed by its subsidiary, PIJ Property Development Sdn Bhd against Muda for trespassing the building and using its incubator without permission.
“The entrepreneur incubator at Taman Perbadanan Islam in Stulang Laut was set up to help young entrepreneurs who are just starting up their businesses.
“It was never meant to be used as the operations centre of any political party.
“Based on our records, the space was to be used by an individual to set up his furniture business, and not for the operations of any political party. The individual is not allowed to rent out the space to any other parties,” it said in the statement Friday (March 4).
“What is more disappointing is that it was being used by Muda without permission from PIJ Property.
“We hope that Muda will vacate the building immediately and leave it in good condition.
“To ensure the building can fully benefit entrepreneurs in the area, we hope that this matter is resolved peacefully,” it said.
Meanwhile, Muda candidate for the Larkin seat, Rashid Abu Bakar, claimed that the party had signed an agreement to rent the office space from its owner starting Feb 26.
“We informed them that we are from a political party and that the space would be used as our operations room throughout the campaign period.
“We have all the necessary documents, including payment receipts to prove that we have permission to use the space from the landowner’” he said in a press conference at the said operations room.
Rashid added that Muda has yet to receive a notice to vacate.
“However, if we do receive the notice, we will abide by it and leave,” he said.
