KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The Raja Bot market or Chow Kit market here will be closed for seven days from Saturday (July 24) until July 30 for sanitisation works.
Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) through a notice posted on its Facebook page, said that during the closure, no business activities would be carried out at the market.
"DBKL will take enforcement action against any party who fails to comply with the directive," according to the notice.
Pudu Market is also closed for seven days from today until July 29 for sanitisation.
In Penang, the Seberang Prai City Council (MBSP) temporarily closed its branch office in Jalan Betek, Bukit Mertajam from today until July 28 or to a later date due to Covid-19 cases detected in the building.
Mayor Datuk Rozali Mohamud said MBSP had received a closure notice from the Seberang Prai Tengah district health office after 17 enforcement staff members at the branch office tested positive for Covid-19.
"The branch office has a total of 398 staff members from the enforcement and veterinary divisions of MBSP, out of whom, 17 were infected with Covid-19, so we took the immediate step of temporarily closing it to curb the spread of the virus.
"Sanitisation was also carried out at the office while the infected staff and close contacts have been instructed to undergo quarantine," he said when contacted Friday (July 23).
Members of the public who want to liaise with MBSP can go to its office in Perda or visit its website at www.mbsp.gov.my.
Rozali assured that the services would not be disrupted by the closure of the branch office as MBSP had a contingency plan to mobilise its crisis management teams for emergency assistance. - Bernama
