JOHOR BARU: Seven overloaded trucks laden with sand and stones were detained in several areas here under Ops Perdagangan on Tuesday (Nov 23).

       State traffic chief Supt M. Kumarasan said the truck drivers were detained under the ongoing operations to remove overloaded lorries off the roads in the state.

       "The tricks and provocations by the drivers and tonto failed to prevent them from being arrested by our investigation enforcement team," he said in a statement.

       Supt Kumarasan said action was taken against them under Section 57(3) of the Land Public Transport Act 2010.

       He said police would also take similar action against other overloaded commercial vehicles found to carry goods as their action could pose risks to other road users.
