SEREMBAN: Police arrested a 40-year-old man who had fled to Penang hours after allegedly stabbing a 19-year-old Rohingya to death in a house in Bukit Tembok here.
Seremban OCPD Asst Comm Nanda Maarof said the suspect, also a foreigner, was detained in a textile shop in Bukit Mertajam at around 1.30pm on Wednesday (April 6).
"The suspect has been taken to the Seberang Perai Tengah police headquarters for documentation work and will then be brought back here.
"The case is being probed under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder," he said in a statement.
ACP Nanda said police found the victim's body in the house at around 10am on Wednesday (April 6) after being alerted by a member of the public.
The victim, who was stabbed in the stomach, is believed to have died five hours before his body was discovered.
ACP Nanda said preliminary investigations revealed that the victim had been staying at the house for the past week.
"We believe both the victim and the suspect got into an argument which led to the stabbing.
"Neighbours also heard them quarrelling on Tuesday night (April 5)," he said.
He added that the suspect's employer had also come to look for him at the house after he failed to turn up for work.
