PUTRAJAYA: Several areas in Perak, Terengganu, and Sabah will be placed under the enhanced movement control order beginning July 10, following a spike in the number of cases at the localities.
In Perak, the affected areas are sub-districts of Bidor and Batang Padang.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that out of 3,271 screenings carried out at the localities, health authorities recorded 523 cases to date.
In Terengganu, three housing areas in Sura sub-district in Dungun - Rumah Awam Kos Rendah Gong Pasir, Kampung Gong Pasir and Taman MAIDAM - will also be under the order after 28 cases were recorded from 360 screenings carried out on the residents.
In Sabah, Kampung Mengkabau Laut in Pitas will be under lockdown after 11 individuals were tested positive, while Ladang Sabah Mas Division Segama in Lahad Datu has 14 cases from 20 screenings carried out at the locality.
Also placed under enhanced MCO are Sabah Felda Umas 1, 3 and 4 in Kalabakan and Phase 4B Taman Sepanggar in Kota Kinabalu.
Ismail Sabri said 14 cases were detected at the lockdown area in Kalabakan while in Phase 4B Taman Sepanggar, health authorities reported eight cases.
“Following a risk assessment, the government has agreed to place these localities in Terengganu, Sabah and Perak under enhanced MCO for 14 days until July 23.
“This will enable authorities to control the movement of people in the affected areas to prevent further infection,” he said on Thursday (July 8).
