KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional should be consulted before any date is decided for the dissolution of Parliament, says former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
In a Facebook post on Sunday (April 10), Muhyiddin said he had discussed this and other matters related to the interests of the people and the country with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob at Seri Perdana.
“Perikatan component leaders and I attended a meeting with the Prime Minister followed by a buka puasa dinner.
“During the meeting, the Prime Minister spoke about the importance of cooperation between Perikatan and the Federal Government.
“He (Ismail Sabri) gave his commitment to consult Perikatan when determining national policies.
“We reminded the Prime Minister that Perikatan, as the main coalition that forms the Federal Government, must be consulted first before determining the date to dissolve Parliament,” said Muhyiddin, who is Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president.
Also present at the meeting were PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, Sabah STAR president Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, Sabah Progressive Party president Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee and Gerakan president Senator Datuk Dr Dominic Lau.
