KLANG: The people of Selangor flocked to scenic locations in their state to enjoy the sights and sounds as the state entered Phase Two of the National Recovery Plan.

Sekinchan’s popular Farmville Café and Homestay threw open its doors yesterday, and response has been good.

Annie Lim, who manages the premises, said they received seven walk-in clients for the homestay as well as for dine-in, soon after they reopened.

“These customers had called earlier after it was announced that restrictions were being lifted. We told them to just walk in,’’ she added.

Lim said the premises had closed and reopened several times since March last year when the first movement control order was implemented.

“But we are very careful and have a stringent standard operating procedure in place, in addition to allowing only fully vaccinated people in,’’ she added.

Faizal Saraman, who owns Faiz Homestay Morib at Taman Bayu Indah, Banting, said although he was worried about Covid-19, he had no choice but to reopen for business.

“I started operating in 2019 and just after a few months of business, the pandemic started and we had to close.

“I need to recover the funds I put in to set up my business,’’ said Faizal, whose homestay is a single-storey terrace house.

He said one family had already booked into the homestay as soon as it started operations yesterday.

However, another popular place, the Sekinchan Homestay, has chosen to remain closed even though it is allowed to operate.

“We won’t be opening because we do not want to take any risks,’’ said a member of its management team.

She said the establishment had remained shut since March last year.

“We do not know when we will reopen,’’ said the woman who declined to be named.

Traveller Ivy Liew said she would stay put for a while as she had visited almost all the holiday destinations in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.

“I will wait until we can travel to other states, and will make a road trip to Perlis, Kedah and Penang with my husband once that is allowed,’’ said Liew who lives in Cheras.

She added that she would only make the trips after the Covid-19 numbers in the three northern states decrease.
