KUALA LUMPUR: A total of five factories and 10 business premises were ordered to close, while 12 individuals were detained for Covid-19 standard operating procedure (SOP) violations on Friday (June 25).
Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the compliance operation task force conducted 2,224 inspections on factories and 11,680 business premises.
"Cumulatively, the task force consisting of 20,071 personnel has conducted 95,539 inspections and snap checks nationwide,” said Ismail Sabri.
"We will step up enforcement in terms of inspections on factories and business premises around the country, as there have been SOP violations and infringements," he added in a statement on Saturday (June 26).
Ismail Sabri also said that 735 individuals were detained for not complying with Covid-19 SOPs on Friday, adding that 705 were issued compound notices while 30 were remanded.
"Among the top offences were illegal inter-state and inter-district travel, eating at food premises, failure to record personal details before entering premises, not wearing face masks and failing to maintain physical distancing,” he said.
Ismail Sabri added that the compliance operation task force conducted 95,539 inspections nationwide on Friday.
On Ops Benteng, he said that two undocumented immigrants were detained and six land vehicles were seized on Friday, he added.
"Authorities conducted 951 roadblocks nationwide," he said.
Ismail Sabri also said that 733 individuals arrived in Malaysia on Friday and they were placed under mandatory quarantine.
"Cumulatively, 234,286 individuals returned to Malaysia since July 24 last year.
"A total of 7,588 individuals are still undergoing quarantine, 223,871 have been discharged, while 2,827 were sent to hospitals for treatment," he said.
Ismail Sabri advised the public to impose self lockdown to prevent the spread of the virus.
"Stay at home and practice good hygiene with your families in the comfort of your own homes.
"Let us stay at home and stay safe together," he said.
