JOHOR BARU: The bodies of two men who went missing after falling into Sungai Redan while out fishing at the Mados jetty near Kampung Air Putih here on Monday (Sept 20) have been found.

Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said the first body was located at about 5km from where they were reported missing at about 7am on Wednesday (Sept 22).

He added that the second body was found at 8am about 200m away from the first body.

“External examination on the body found that both were in good physical condition but the bodies had begun to swell.

“Based on the report of the investigation on Monday, an eyewitness who works on a dredger near the Mados jetty said that he heard a loud bang from below and found that there was a public boat near the vessel at about 10.30pm.

“However, investigations found that there was no collision between the boat and the vessel, and the boat was floating on the river,” he said in a statement here.

He added that the two victims, identified as Ramdan Sulaima, 50, and 53-year-old Amiruddin Abdul Malik were not in the boat and are believed to have fallen into the river and drowned.

The search and rescue operation was conducted by the Fire and Rescue Department, marine police and the Civil Defence Force.

The operation ended at about 10.30am and both bodies have been brought to the Sultan Ismail Hospital for post mortem.
