Labour has received a massive £19.5million cash injection from 11 donors, we have taken a look at who these people are and why they are boosting the party’s funds.

According to the latest figures on the Electoral Commission website, Labour has accepted 1,949 cash donations totalling £53.3m since Keir Starmer became leader in April 2020, according to the latest figures on the Electoral Commission website.
As of early July, it had received 39 more, totalling almost £9.3m, according to the Telegraph.
Here is a look at the 11 donors who have contributed £19.5m:

Lord David Sainsbury of Turville: £7.6m
Lord Sainsbury has donated over £40m to political parties since 2004 – including nearly £16m to Labour.
From 1992 to 1997, he served as the Chairman of Sainsbury's (a supermarket chain established by his great-grandfather John James Sainsbury in 1869) and was made a life peer in 1997 as a member of the Labour Party.
He’s handed over £5.1m during the Starmer years, plus another £2.5m cheque that’s waiting to be accepted.

Gary Lubner: £5.9m
Mr Lubner is the former chief executive of glass repair company Belron, a company which includes the brand AutoGlass.
He is a long-time supporter of the Israel charity UJIA and has previously praised Starmer for tackling antisemitism in Labour.
He started making political donations just over two years ago and has made 17 donations to the Labour party since then, including £900,000 during the last general election campaign.
Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers (USDAW): £4.6m
The union made its first political donation to Labour in 2010 and has now made 348 more. Of those, 95 came during Mr Starmer’s reign – with £314,000 arriving during the election campaign.
Ecotricity £3.3m
The Labour Party has accepted donations from company Ecotricity which was founded by Dale Vince, a wealthy climate change activist. Mr Vince has also funded Just Stop Oil, an environmental group, and has also given cash to Greenpeace and Extinction Rebellion.
Speaking to Sky News ahead of the Election, Mr Vince has said he donated to Labour to “help them win, to help them into Government so they have the chance to deliver their agenda, which is my agenda, social justice and a green economy”.

Francesca Perrin: £2m
Lord Sainsbury’s daughter set her own record when she donated £1m to Labour in 2023. It was the largest amount a woman had ever given the party and doubled her total donations.
Fran Perrin said she gave the huge sum to help Keir Starmer and shadow chancellor Rachel Reeves restore Britain’s “standing in the world”.
Martin Taylor: £1.4m
Mr Taylor has been donating to Labour since 2012.
He has donated more than £1m to Labour since Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership, half of which came during the election campaign.
Derek Webb: £560,000
The millionaire entrepreneur and poker player made his money in the gambling industry.
Over the years he's made donations to political parties totalling almost £1m. None seem to have come during the election campaign.
Danny Luhde-Thompson: £530,000
The Cambridge-educated investor made his first political payment in mid-March this year. He’s made five in total, all to Labour.
