IPOH: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) never talked about overthrowing the Prime Minister during its recent supreme council meeting, says Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.

The party’s deputy president said they supported the leadership of Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said during the recent meeting, council members discussed the party’s preparations for the general election, the cost of living and the increase in food prices.

He said any claim that the meeting talked about the premier's position was a definite lie.

“We talked about ways to help the government tackle such issues.

“We never talked about the Prime Minister – we support him, and the party wants a stable government.

“We must focus on the problems faced by the people, and not prioritise personal or political matters,” he told a press conference after officiating a surau at SK Pasukan Polis Hutan in Tambun near here on Monday (June 13).

Ahmad Faizal was asked to comment on an article in Utusan Malaysia stating that the meeting had spoken about Ismail Sabri's position.

The Malay daily quoted a source who said that during the meeting, it was mentioned that if Bersatu had enough support from Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang), Parti Warisan and Pakatan Harapan, it could change the government without calling for an election.
