PETALING JAYA: Senior citizens at the Rumah Sejahtera Yong Peng were pleasantly surprised by a visit from Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, who came with boxes of mooncakes to cheer them up.
Although wearing a face mask, they were all smiles when receiving the sweet delicacy in conjunction with the impending Mid-Autumn Festival, which is synonymous with family reunion in the Chinese tradition.
“Since the Mid-Autumn is coming on Sept 21, I presented some mooncakes to the old folks at the Rumah Sejahtera Yong Peng, along with some face masks and hand sanitisers,” said Dr Wee, who is also Ayer Hitam MP, on his Facebook on Saturday (Sept 18).
The Transport Minister said he was pleased to see that all of the senior citizens at the home have been fully vaccinated.
Dr Wee, who made a trip back to his constituency, said he also handed over the approval letter for an allocation to several non-governmental organisations in Yong Peng.
“May we all be protected from Covid-19 and be able to celebrate the festival with joy,” he added.
