PUTRAJAYA: A civil servant is believed to have used his position to help companies secure projects and has allegedly received bribes, not just in cash but valuables, amounting to about RM1mil.
The division assistant undersecretary of a ministry is said to have received gratification in the form of cash of about RM300,000, jewellery, 0.8ha of land, a two-storey shoplot and a motorcycle from 11 companies which he had “assisted” in securing tenders.
A remand order was issued by Magistrate Shah Wira Abdul Halim following an application by MACC prosecutors.
It is learnt that the 46-year-old suspect was arrested at the MACC headquarters around 9pm on Tuesday after having his statement recorded.
