PUTRAJAYA: Civil servants who have no strong reasons to reject the Covid-19 vaccination will soon know the action they may face.
The Public Services Department (PSD) is set to forward several actions and approaches to the National Security Council for its deliberation.
This includes a directive to make it compulsory for public servants to be vaccinated except for those who have strong reasons to be exempted.
PSD said several measures can be taken by ministries and departments based on the existing Public Service (Conduct and Discipline) Regulations to ensure civil servants are inoculated.
“All public servants must abide by the regulations, including on matters relating to presence at the workplace, when directed by the head of department,” it said in a statement yesterday.
PSD noted that almost 98% of civil servants have been immunised.
“Looking at the percentage, the number of those who have not been vaccinated is very small.
“However, this matter needs to be given priority to give confidence and guarantee to the people when dealing with civil servants at government premises,” it said.
