PETALING JAYA: The government has been urged to carry out what has been announced for civil servants under Budget 2022 without delay by the Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs).
"Cuepacs hopes that the government will implement all the initiatives for civil servants and the rakyat in general under the Budget.
"The initiative to allow civil servants to make early redemption of replacement leave up to 50% or 80 days is something which was announced in Budget 2020 but has not been implemented as of to date," its president Adnan Mat said in a statement on Friday (Oct 29).
He noted the initiative should be implemented immediately without the need for further studies on the matter.
Adnan was referring to the replacement leave for civil servants increased from 150 to 160 days, where they will be allowed to make early redemption of replacement leave up to 80 days.
He thanked the government for the special aid payment of RM700 for some 1.3mil civil servants Grade 56 and below, including the special aid of RM350 for pensioners which was announced under Budget 2022.
Adnan was commenting on the budget, the largest ever totaling RM332.1bil, which was tabled by Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz in Dewan Rakyat on Friday. (Oct 29).
