MUAR: The decision to reshuffle the Cabinet lies in the hands of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, says Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
The former prime minister said that he knew nothing about the plans to reshuffle the Cabinet.
"I don't know about that (the Cabinet reshuffle). I am not the prime minister.
"If there are any plans, it’s his (Ismail Sabri).
"It is the Prime Minister's right (to reshuffle the Cabinet). He is the one who could assess whether to shuffle or not.
"But it is normal for people to speculate in politics, so I leave it to the Prime Minister to decide," he said after visiting flood victims at a temporary flood relief centre here at Kampung Jawa, Lenga.
He said this when asked to comment on talks of a Cabinet reshuffle.
There had been media reports speculating on a Cabinet reshuffle, with Utusan Malaysia predicting that a deputy prime minister would be appointed next week.
Quoting a source, the report stated that the details were being discussed.
It said the Prime Minister had met with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to deliberate on the matter, specifically involving the positions of ministers and deputy ministers from Bersatu.
On Tuesday (Jan 4), Ismail Sabri said any chatter about the Cabinet reshuffle was mere speculation.
"Yes, people are talking, names are being mentioned, and it’s normal.
"I have said it before that my focus now is on the floods, so I don’t want to talk about whether or not there will be a Cabinet reshuffle."
