Rows of dawn redwood trees along an avenue in the west Japan city of Takashima, Shiga Prefecture, create a lush arcade of red and brown autumn leaves, as seen on Nov. 28, 2021. About 500 dawn redwood trees flank a street in the Makinocho district stretching for about 2.4 kilometers. Although the area saw few visitors last year due to the spread of the coronavirus, this year, people have been gradually returning to see the foliage. A local preservation group says the autumn leaves' change in color has been slow this year due to warm temperatures, and that the scenery can be enjoyed through this weekend. Tamio Saito, a 44-year-old office worker who visited the street with his 3-year-old son, smiled and said, "I've visited this place many times, but there are especially a lot of leaves this year, and they look pretty."
