KUALA LUMPUR: Pestech International Bhd ’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Pestech Technology Sdn Bhd (PTECH), has secured a contract for works in relation to design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of automated people mover (APM) and associated works at KL International Airport (KLIA) from Malaysia Airports (Sepang) Sdn Bhd (MASSB) worth RM742.95 million.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Pestech International said the project fell under Option 2, which included financing (D&B Works) and operation and maintenance (O&M Services) until Feb 11, 2034.
"The commencement date of the project shall be from March 14, 2022, for three years on the D&B Works while the O&M Services for 10 years will be from March 14, 2025 until Feb 11, 2034,” it said.
Pestech International said the project involve the replacement of new APM vehicles, power supply, communication and signaling systems, station APM equipment, maintenance facilities and equipment, amongst others.
"The rehabilitation works of the existing 1.2 kilometres of APM infrastructure will be implemented whilst the service of the APM between the main terminal building and satellite A terminal is to be maintained under minimal interruption during all phases of the Project.
"The APM will offer improvements in interior appearance, energy consumption, diagnostics and other areas,” it said.
It said upon completion of the D&B Works, PTECH shall continue its role as the O&M Services contractor to operate and maintain the new APM for 10 years.
"The project will bring to service an enhanced transit infrastructure to the visitors of KLIA with a safer, more comfortable and improved reliability APM providing a more effective and dependable experience for all travellers,” it said.
It said the new APM should contribute for the sustainable development of KLIA moving towards a clean and efficient driverless APM system.
"The project shall bring progressive momentum to the group’s endeavour towards putting resources into electric mobility,” it said.
It added that Pestech International would also foster the relevant technological knowhow of the full-fledge APM system and apply such knowledge in cultivating local talent in the sustainable electric mobility industry. - Bernama
