KUALA LUMPUR: The police station chief caught having a party in a police station in Kajang has tested positive for drugs.

Bukit Aman Integrity and Standard Compliance Department (JIPS) director Comm Datuk Azri Ahmad said the police OCS tested positive for ganja in the initial urine test conducted.

“The sample will be sent for further testing and if it turns out positive as well, he will be prosecuted,” he said yesterday.

Kajang police will investigate the violation of Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP) and whether there was any criminal element involving the four policemen and four others, who were partying at the police station, he added.

“JIPS will investigate the four policemen for misconduct and violations of regulations of public servants.

The police will not compromise in taking action against police personnel or officers who are involved in wrongdoings or crimes, he added.

“The bad apples in the police force are only a minority.

“They will not be protected, instead stern action will be taken against them,” he said.

“The raid on the police station was possible due to information from the public.

“Rest assured such information will be acted upon,” he added.

Meanwhile, Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed said the OCS and three other police personnel detained at the party have been pulled from the field and assigned administrative duties.

The OCS with the rank of Sub-Inspector and three others have been transferred to the Kajang police district headquarters’ administrative division until investigations are completed.

“Another Sub-Inspector will take over duties of the OCS to ensure all daily matters involving the public and nearby residents run smoothly,” he said.

“Investigations are being conducted by Kajang police and Bukit Aman Integrity and Standard Compliance Department.

“We are still waiting for the full report of the investigations,” he added.

Bukit Aman JIPS arrested the four policemen and four civilians after discovering a “private party” inside a police station in Kajang on Tuesday.

The suspects were aged between 21 and 37.

JIPS also seized various items, including alcohol bottles, disco lights and a sound system during the raid at the police station.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 269 of the Penal Code for committing a negligent act likely to spread infection of any disease dangerous to life.
