A BOY, 5, is fighting for life in a coma after a lorry smashed into his dad's car as they travelled to see his grandparents in Italy.

Dominic Boschetti, from Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, is on a life support machine after the smash which also seriously injured his dad Giuseppe.

The little lad was visiting his father in Italy at the time and was asleep in the backseat when they were struck by the lorry in Montichiari.

Giuseppe, 51, was badly hurt, but managed to perform lifesaving CPR to help save his son's life.

Dominic, who will be six in two weeks, was then taken to hospital where he remains with his family at his bedside.

His mum Jordan has now given up her job and flown from the UK to be with her son 850 miles from home.

Dominic lives with mum Jordan, 43, at the family home in Aston Fields.

The family have now launched a fundraiser to help support them after the horrific crash on December 22.

Dominic's uncle Corin Hetherington, Jordan's brother, told The Birmingham Mail: "Dominic was travelling to see his grandparents and extended Italian family when the car was struck by a lorry.

"Dominic was asleep in the car and has multiple injuries and has been placed in a medically induced coma after suffering a cardiac arrest at the scene of the accident."

"His father, Guiseppe, has very bad leg and arm injuries and has had multiple operations on his legs.

"But somehow he managed to pull Dominic from the car and started CPR, which saved his life."

He has also travelled to Italy to be with Dominic and Jordan, but due to Covid restrictions they won't be able to see him until next Monday.

Corin, who lives in Redditch, told the local paper his nephew was now on a life support machine in a critical condition with multiple injuries.

He went on: ""She has travelled to Italy to be with Dominic and has given up her job at Studley Castle to go to be with her son.

"She doesn't have the means to fund all the expenses involved in the aftermath of this tragic event."

The GoFundMe appeal set up by Corin has so far raised more than £7,000 to help support Jordan and Dominic in Italy.

Corin said: ""Dominic is the most amazing beautiful little boy - he is bilingual speaking fluent Italian and English.

"We are here in Italy but haven't been allowed to see him yet because of the Covid restrictions, it's very hard for us."
