The initial project is one of three proposed by KDIPA, which have been earmarked by the government. The Cabinet then looked into plans to find an exclusive location in Kuwait’s northern Subiya region where contemporary exhibitions would be displayed, based on a suggestion by its economic affairs committee. Discussing development projects in the works, Kuwait International Fair chief Wael Al-Ibrahim, amid a presentation he gave to the Cabinet, unveiled plans to establish an international trade city in Kuwait, going into detail about the intricacies behind the endeavor, which include a funding mechanism.

He said such marquee projects provide a myriad of benefits, chief among them is potentially creating a local job boom, in addition to bolstering the national economy, which subsequently helps to lure greater foreign investment into Kuwait. The talks moved on to projects dealing with the use of renewable power for electricity production, which include Kuwait’s Shagaya renewable energy complex, an endeavor overseen by the country’s Ministry of Electricity and Water. Similarly, the Cabinet also tasked the Ministry of Electricity and Water to be in charge of a smart meter project, which aims to replace antiquated mechanical meters with smart and more efficient ones.
